Members of the Champlain Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter traveled to Boston Feb. 22-23, for a regional conference hosted by Boston University’s PRSSA chapter. The conference called PR Advanced: Find Your Voice! featured presentations from communication professionals such as Anthony Harrison, Director of Media Corporate Relations at Facebook; Barri Rafferty, CEO and President of Ketchum, a top-five, global public relations firm; and Brandi Boatner, Social and Influencer Communications Lead of Global Markets at IBM.
Nicole Glidden, a senior Public Relations major in the Division of Communication and Creative Media, found the conference to be extremely enlightening. She met Rebecca Corliss, the VP of Owl Labs, who previously worked at Hubspot and created the first Hubspot certification.
“To meet the woman who launched the online learning community that has arguably given me decades worth of knowledge in an extremely short amount of time was such an honor. She even recommended a certification course to the audience that I’ve been working on this semester, so it validated that I’m on my right path toward postgrad opportunities!” Glidden said.
Students and faculty who attended the regional conference included Bekemeh Airewele, Evan Barker, Lauren Blake, Sarah Dunne, Nicole Glidden, Sadie Goldfarb, Emma Lee, Jessy Moyer, Brianna Newman, and Duncan Persons with professors Nancy Kerr, Communication Program Director and Roz Whitaker-Heck, PRSSA faculty advisor.
