Champlain’s MakerLab is offering a series of workshops this Spring open to students, faculty, and others interested in learning how to use 3D modeling software, laser cutters, 3D printers, and more. The MakerLab is located in the Emergent Media Center, at the Lakeside Miller Center.

Each workshop is lead by a different skilled instructor and takes place on different days, times, and locations to allow participants a variety of choices. Topics covered so far have include: laser cutting a cardboard bonsai tree, basic engraving and laser cutting techniques, making custom wood block print art, sewing fleece print hats, using a laser cutter to make earrings and necklace pendants, and basic soldering and electronics techniques to create a guitar from a gas can.
