Champlain College’s Division of Communication and Creative Media (CCM) welcomed its incoming first-year students at a new student orientation, where each student was asked to find a partner and “mash up” their first names into a portmanteau. The results were then posted to Twitter, with the hashtag #champCCM. The 200+ students joining the division this year also shared some unique facts about themselves, some of which include: founding a Women’s Right’s Awareness group in the 9th grade, and acting in the TV show “Amish Haunting.” Among the eight offerings of majors, Game Design and Game Art and Animation were the leading two choices, with over 40 students in each. Other new students chose either Communication, Creative Media, Graphic Design, Broadcast Media Production, Filmmaking, Professional Writing, or Undeclared.
