Filmmakers David LaRosa, Janine Laino, and Kathleen McGrath from Feenix Films recently visited students in the Filmmaking program at Champlain College. They showed their latest feature, Clandestine, and held a panel on independent filmmaking during the evening of April 8. Earlier that day they held a workshop with the students about directing actors. The next day, LaRosa appeared on FOX morning news program as a guest on Julia Swift’s “At the Movies” weekly Segment.

The aspiring filmmaking majors also spoke to the filmmakers about interning and working on their next film. The filmmakers, so impressed with the Champlain students, went into the Champlain College school store to buy merchandise to flaunt the school name. They spoke of coming back when they have finished their next film. They are looking forward to connecting with our students at film festivals.

“In all of my classes this week, the students keep referencing stories and advice that they learned from the Feenix team over the weekend.”  -Julia Swift, Filmmaking Assistant Professor

COMMUNICATING FOR CHANGE: Your Organization May Be in Need of Change, But Are Your Publics?

Whether organizational change results from reorganization, acquisition, merger, downsizing or new strategic direction, there are unique components to a change situation that demand special communication considerations for internal and external publics. The Champlain College Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the Yankee Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (YPRSA) are partnering to host, “Communicating for Change.” rung9Leading the session is Rosemarie Rung, APR, who has over twenty-five years of corporate communications experience working for two Fortune 50 corporations and her own private consulting practice. This professional development session is being offered to the Burlington business community to reveal the science and strategy behind effective change communications and how to prepare a successful communications plan. The session is Friday, Nov. 18 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on the campus of Champlain College, Burlington, VT. The cost is $25 for PRSA members and $35 for non-members, which includes breakfast and a great networking and learning opportunity. All proceeds will benefit the PRSSA Chapter.
