In a celestial-themed tribute, the Division of Communication and Creative Media livestreamed its 2020 Honors Night on April 16.
This was the first time the ceremony was produced for a virtual presentation because of the COVID-19 pandemic that mandated the departure of students from campus. Fifty students, recognized as Shining Stars in the CCM division, were honored as recipients of the Dean’s scholarships for returning students, the Excel Award for outstanding seniors, and other academic honors for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.
Lyn Smith, a Junior Visual Communications major, is studying abroad at Auckland University of Technology this semester. Smith and nine other students from her class designed billboards in collaboration with LUMO, a New Zealand digital billboard company.Continue reading
Over winter break, eight Champlain College students travelled to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to co-produce two short films, alongside local Saudi filmmakers as part of a one-credit travel embedded course. The students’ majors include Filmmaking, Broadcast Media Production, and Creative Media. Professors John Rasmussen, Julia Swift, and Van Dora Williams were faculty leaders of the trip. This was the first year the trip was offered, but Rasmussen says it certainly won’t be the last.
Earlier this month, the 4th annual Juried Student Art Show took place in the CCM Gallery curated by Dana Heffern, Art Gallery Director. The show featured works in video, audio, 3-D model, photography, sculpture, graphic design, digital and manual painting, drawing, and illustration from students of many different majors.
